Ancient Cities Flotilla was launched in 2011 by the association of a French professional boat manufacturer & operator, a Burmese cruise enthusiast and a Swiss hospitality expert who knows Myanmar like the back of his hand. Their goal was to offer authentic boutique cruises to discover the region of Mandalay and the captivating, busy life on the river. In 2018, Ancient Cities Flotilla operates 1 cruise boat and is proud to provide to each of our guests authentic Myanmar cuisine, cozy and comfortable cabins, an exclusive atmosphere and great service & genuine smiles from our team. We, at Ancient Cities Flotilla, guarantee you a safe, authentic and comfortable journey to experience the real Myanmar! Ancient Cities Flotilla is ready to consider other cruise options on the Ayarwaddy river if there are special requests for chartering RV Mingun.

Wonders of Mandalay - 3 Days - 2 Nights Scheduled or Private Charter

Mandalay - Mingun - Ava - Mandalay

Day 1 - DINNER IN MINGUN

Check in and embark at 16:00 with a warm welcome from the crew. The boat then slowly sails upstream towards the ancient city of Mingun. While cruising along the fascinating scenes of Ayarwaddy, enjoy an aperitif on the upper deck and watch the sunset on the river.
Enjoy your dinner of local tastes and flavors and spend the night onboard near Mingun.

DAY 2 - MINGUN - MANDALAY - AVA

Awaken to the beautiful sight of the ancient temple of Mingun along with a traditional Burmese breakfast. If you’re an early bird, you’ll have the chance to visit Mingun, before the hoard of visitors arrives from Mandalay. Visit Pondawphaya, Settawya, Pahtodawgyi pagodas and the legendary Mingun Bell, one of the largest intact ringing bells in the world. Around 11:00, back onboard and sail towards Ava. Lunch will be served while crusing along the Ayarwaddy. At 15:00, you will be able to visit the Island of Ava by horse cart, including stops at famous Bagaya Kyaung & Me Nu Oak Kyaung Monasteries. After a thrilling long day of visits, relax, while we navigate upstream to Sagaing for an exclusive BBQ Dinner on a sand beach facing the hilltops, dotted with white and gold pagodas.
Overnight will be onboard.

DAY 3 - MANDALAY

Upon your wake up, we’ll serve you a nice breakfast on board, while cruising back to Mandalay to disembark at 10:00 AM. Depending on your program, time and place of disembarking can be adjusted.
Note: Disembarking earlier in Sagaing is recommended if you need to catch an early flight.

Mandalay - Sein Pankhone (River Dolphins) - Mingun - Ava - Mandalay

DAY 1 - MANDALAY - SEIN PANKHONE

We welcome you at 14:00 onboard while enjoying your welcome drinks. We then depart to Sein Pankhone, a typical Myanmar village. While cruising along the fascinating scenes of Ayarwaddy, witness the daily life of the inhabitants of the river on the comfort of the sundeck.

DAY 2 - SEIN PANKHONE - MINGUN

Breakfast will be served on the sundeck between 07:00 and 08:00, before discovering on foot the village of farmers and fishermen. Enjoy fine & authentic Myanmar cuisine for lunch while sailing on the protected area of the river, home of the Ayarwaddy Dolphin. We arrive around 17:00 at the ancient city of Mingun.

DAY 3 - MINGUN - AVA

Awaken to the beautiful sight of the ancient temple of Mingun along with a traditional Burmese breakfast. DAY 2 - SEIN PANKHONE - KYAUK MYAUNG

Breakfast will be served on the sundeck between 07:00 and 08:00, before the visit on foot of this village of farmers and fishermen. Enjoy fine Myanmar cuisine while sailing on this protected area of the river, home of the Ayarwaddy Dolphin, in direction of Kyauk Myaung. Upon arrival, visit Kyauk Myang famous for its distinctive glazed pottery. The big Martaban earthenware jars made there are traditionally used as water reservoirs in the whole country. Dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 3 - KYAUK MYAUNG - MINGUN

After breakfast, witness an authentic Myanmar when strolling around the local market in Kyauk Myaung. We then embark and sail to Mingun, among bamboo rafts transporting their fragile potteries downstream and fishermen casting their nets.
Lunch & Dinner served onboard. Overnight near the ancient city of Mingun.

DAY 4 - MINGUN - (MANDALAY) - AVA

Breakfast on board, cruise back to Mandalay and disembark at 10:00. Depending on customers’ program, time and jetty can be adjustable. (Disembarking earlier in Sagaing is recommended if customers need to catch an early flight).

Journey to the Bagan Temples - 3 Days - 2 Nights (Private Charter)

Mandalay - Mingun - Yandabo - Bagan

Day 1 - Mandalay - Mingun - Ava

Check in and embark at Mandalay jetty at 09:30, enjoy welcome drinks and settle in your cabin. We then set sail to Mingun. You will be able to visit the beautiful ancient city of Mingun, before the hoard of visitors arrives from Mandalay. Visit Pondawphaya, Settawya, Pahtodawgyi pagodas and the legendary Mingun Bell, one of the largest intact ringing bells in the world. Around 11:00, back onboard and sail towards Ava. Lunch will be served while crusing along the Ayarwaddy.

Day 2 - Sagaing - Yandabo Village - Chindwin Confluence

Breakfast on board, sail continue downstream to Yandabo Village at 10:00. In the late afternoon, Sightseeing to Yandabo Village, the economy is popular for production of terracotta & clay pots made with river clay. Visit the pottery production. Also Yandabo is historically famous for the signing the Yandabo Peace Treaty of first Anglo-Burmese War in 1826. Around 11:30, back onboard and Lunch will be served during navigation. Continue sailing downstream, dinner & overnight onboard near a river village.

Day 3 - Arrival at Bagan

Breakfast on board, sail continue downstream to arrive Bagan (Nyaung Oo Jetty) in the morning.

The RV Mingun (2016) is the ancient Myanmar traditional boat that was refitted by our boat engineering team. Beautiful wooden ships and well maintained by regular inspections and maintenance, each vessel counts 4 cozy and charming cabins (twin rooms) with en-suite bathroom.
By following the stairs up to the sundeck, you can enjoy your meals, snacks and aperitif in an open-air area while observing the everyday life on the river.

The RV Irrawaddy Spirit is a traditional boat as well refurbished in 2013 with 3 exclusive and comfortable cabins (2 twin rooms & 1 double) with en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning with a scenic view of the river from the cabin.
The dining and relaxing area upstairs offers comfort from the sun and the heat with an air-conditioned room, while being able to enjoy the beautiful view from the river with its transparent glass veranda.
